All eyes on fancy ferrets | Natalie Tkaczuk Sikora Herald Sun September 26, 2008 FROCKED-up ferrets and calves in costume will be hitting the catwalk today for fancy dress Friday at the Royal Melbourne Show. Dressed to impress and all dolled up, the pet prima donnas will turn on the charm -- and even temper tantrums - as they strut their stuff for showgoers. At a dress rehearsal for the Herald Sun yesterday the ferrets showed off their latest wardrobe additions, before turning a tad temperamental. |
"They are a bit like models - they have their hissy fits," said Mornington Peninsula Ferret Society founding member Ian Cuthbertson. "It depends what they're like on the day whether they let you dress them up." The ferrets will hit the Wonderful World of Pets stage at 11.30am today and tomorrow in the race for ribbons in a variety of categories. The open-theme Calf Classic - where decorated cows are led out by creatively dressed kids -- will start at 6.30pm at the Weekly Times Livestock Pavilion. Seeing Eye Dogs, in the final stages of training, mingled with the huge crowd yesterday in their first show outing in three years. The alpacas have also settled in and are on parade throughout the day at the Herald Sun Town Square. Today's highlights include the Garryowen Equestrienne & Turnout at the Coca-Cola Arena, with awards being presented at 11.45am. Recommend this article... |
