Friend of Woman Accused of Animal Cruelty Talks to Newschannel 3 |

3 (This article references what occurred in this article. Tom Kasner, It's a Ferret Life) All Donna wanted to do is defend her friend, Elaine Mccraig, who's
been charged with animal cruelty. She says her friend had good intentions,
but just didn't ask for help.
Donna says, her friend was actually rescuing ferrets, taking in old
and sick ones when their owners had given up. That's why many people
like Donna asked her for advice.
Donna says, "she was able to tell me what I
needed to know because I hadn't a clue on how to take care of a ferret.
I found out so much; how to feed them, let them play, what to watch
out for, and what to do when they're sick."
News of Mccraig's ordeal, still brings her to tears.

Fretless holidays with ferrets |

Drs. Foster & Smith The holidays should be a happy time for you and your ferret, not a
time for an emergency visit to your veterinarian. To ensure holiday fun
instead of holiday fret regarding your ferret, plan carefully to avoid
potential hazards.
Food-related items
Alcohol can cause serious intoxications in pets, and many pets are attracted
to it. Clean up glasses after holiday parties. Ferrets are often attracted
by the sweet taste of drinks, especially eggnog.
Ferrets have an exceptional sense of smell -- juices on plastic or aluminum
foil left on countertops are very tempting. If ingested, plastic or foil
wrap (cellophane candy wrappers or food wrap) can cause choking or intestinal
obstruction.

Dead Pets Found In Local House Of Filth |

UNIONTOWN
(KDKA 2)
(News Video available at link above, FL.)
Dozens of pets, some of them dead, were found in a house of filth in
Uniontown.
Humane officers from the Fayette County Society for the Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals say there was so much feces and so many dead animals
in the home they had to wear bio-hazard suits and breathing masks.
"Probably about four cats, four adult cats, in the freezer mixed in
with their food," Humane officer Elizabeth Davidson-Speelman said. "And
then they had dead kittens - variety of different dead kittens all over
the house. There was a dead cat underneath the mattress."
She also says a ferret was found dead on one of their mantles.

You probably know about the hundreds of
dogs and cats at the Humane Society waiting for homes. But
did you know 30 ferrets are also up for adoption along with
numerous gerbils and rabbits? We investigate why they're ending
up there.
Happy homes mean happy pets. But if you
choose to adopt an animal other than a cat or dog, you might
be in for a lot more than you expected. Ferret Expert Larisa Thomas says these furry finds are often bought in pet stores as starter pets but new parents can be in for a surprise. Recommend this article... |

What has four legs, whiskers,
different colored hair and the power to draw hundreds of people to
the Frederick Fairgrounds on Saturday?
If you said a dog or a cat, you're wrong. The answer is ferrets. About 400 ferrets were entered into the annual Dooktoberfest Ferret Competition and competed in such categories such as super senior, breeder and shelter. Dook refers to the clicking sounds ferrets sometimes make. Susan Hamilton of Newman Lake, Wash., flew across the country to enter Bambino and Bean in the competition. viagra
