Japanese man arrested for abusing ferret

SAGAMIHARA, Japan April 21 (UPI) --

A Japanese man has been fined $4,212 for posting online a video clip of him abusing his pet ferret.

The unidentified Sagamihara man was prosecuted in Sagamihara Summary Court for posting the video of himself choking, hitting and generally abusing the ferret on an Internet message board, Mainichi Daily News reported Saturday.

More than a thousand people reported the man to police after he posted the video on the message board, prompting the Kanagawa prefectural police to arrest him.

He was indicted under the Protection and Control of Animals Law after a veterinarian was brought in to confirm that the cries coming from the ferret were cries of pain.

The defendant pleaded guilty and also revealed to investigators that he had abused more than 20 other pets to let off steam.

News Video about the abuser

There is a Japanese news video clip on You Tube about this guy, and what he did. I first thought about attaching it here, as this is ferret news, but it is too disturbing. Worse than I imagined from reading the news stories. If you want to see it and get really upset, you can watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...ed&search=

Please do not click on the above link without thinking about it first. It is that bad. All the audio is in Japanese, but you don't need to hear the words. It is my understanding the ferret did die of brain damage.
