Vet Advice 7 Months ago Karma: 0
Greetings All,

My husband and I just moved to Virginia (DC area), and I was wondering if anyone else in the area recomends a Vet in particular? I got the list from the directory here, but I would still love to hear some personal reviews before I entrust my boys to a new Doctor. Any help will be much welcome!

Many Thanks,
Carol

PS:
Our two boys are; Reiki our eldest is a drama queen silver. And Sage is the baby, and he is an adorable sabel bandit.

Hello and thank you for asking. I'm in St Louis so I can't help you directly, but this is exactly what I hope to achieve here. PLEASE, anyone in the DC area that can suggest a good vet let Carol know. And PLEASE post a review in the listing itself. Not only will you be helping fellow ferret owners across the country, but you may be saving a ferret life (little pun ). Ferrets need special care, and a knowledgeable vet can make a huge difference.

Carol, after you do go to a vet, please post your experience (good or bad) in the listing for others to see.

I plan on conducting mini phone interviews this weekend. And yes, I will be more than happy to post any reviews I collect!

I totally agree with the importance of a good knowledgeable vet, and spreading the word!! Last year right after we had our new baby, Sage, he somehow injured his left front leg during play time. Turned out he had broken the ferret equivalent of the radial forearm bone (he was such a brave little guy through the whole thing!). At the time we lived in Mid Missouri. Let me tell you, it’s called Mid Missouri for a reason. Everything is at least 2 hours away. Trying to find a vet, on a Saturday, who had the experience to properly handle my baby, was quite terrifying. Originally we were given the options of a) amputation b) surgery that only has a 35% success rate in a LARGE DOG c) let it be and maybe enough scar tissue will stabilize the joint, and he will never have full use of his arm, or d) the big sleep. Fortunately we had the intuition to go with option C. Today our little guy is the bounciest thing, and even has his big brother dooking for mercy lol!

But anyways, I’m trying not to be long winded here, so I just wanted to add my support on the importance of the information, good or bad, gathered on doctors for our little fuzzies.
