Who We Are

Ferrets R #1 Placement & Rescue is a non-profit 501(C)(3), no-kill shelter whose goal is to promote proper care of ferrets.

We bring into the Rescue those ferrets that can't be kept by their owners. After these ferrets come into our care, we provide them with a proper health check-up and ensure that they are up-to-date on their vaccinations. Any ferrets that come into our shelter with medical problems are taken care of by a certified vet. After these checks, we set out to find them a new home. Promoting Ferret Education

We have two goals in our education: new owners and the general public.

  • Owning ferrets can not be taken lightly. Some people think they are like hamsters or other caged animals, but the are very differentand require knowledge before you obtain them. We are there to answer your questions - before or after you get a ferret. It doesn't matter if you have adopted from us or purchased the ferret elsewhere. We want ferrets and families to stay together.
  • We also educate the public on the domestic ferret by working with individuals, schools and other organizations to discuss ferrets. By appointment we are more than happy to have your family over to meet the ferrets, ask questions and discuss if Ferret ownership is something that is suitable for your family.
