The goal of this area of FerretLife.com is to give ferret shelters and rescues a central voice. A place where they can let the world know about themselves, and what is happening with them. Possibly a calendar for posting special events (adoption days, etc...), a place to write about a special ferret or . A place to let people who care about what you do, know about special needs, like a large unpaid vet bill. I would like to give ferret shelters and rescues a place to tell their stories, and hopefully get some much needed support. Let me know what you would like to see, and if you are a shelter send me your story, or story of the day. I'll post it so everyone can see what it takes to do the special job you do.
If you would like to help a shelter or rescue, check out my ferret shelter listings for a one in your area. Give them a call or send them an email. Ask them how you can be of help, or just let them know you appreciate the work they are doing.
There are currently some great organizations that are doing their best to support the work of ferret shelters and rescues. One of these is SOS (Support Our Shelters). They can be found at http://www.supportourshelters.org/. It is a 501(c)3 non-profit group which raises money for shelters accross the country. I challenge everyone who reads this to join their Buck a Month Club fundraising program. You will not miss a buck a month, but combined, it will go a long way to keep these shelters open.
If you are a shelter or rescue and need help or information with web design or web marketing, drop me a line. I can't do it for you. Unfortunatly, there just isn't enough time in my schedule. But I can make suggestions based on my years of web building experience. And if you have a web site, there are many ways to use it to raise funds for your shelter. Affiliate programs and Google marketing just to name two. The number 1 rule? Communicate with the ferret community. There are a lot of good people who would like to help, and would love to hear about you!
I also manage the Ferret Shelters and Rescues Webring. If you are a shelter and would like to join our webring and get more ferret fans to your website, please click here.
