COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Australian television production company Radio Pictures has chosen the Columbus's 8th Annual Ferret Buckeye Bash as the top US ferret show for filming of their PBS documentary entitled "Standards of Perfection." Producer Mark Lewis has produced two other shows, (cats and cattle) in this series that aired in April 2006 on PBS. The documentary will include not only the show but interviews of many ferret lovers as well.

"This will be first time a ferret show has been filmed for documentary and promises to give some real insight to the wonderful wacky world of ferret owners, breeders, shelters and all ferret lovers," says Show Coordinator, Scarlett Gray-Saling. Now in it's eighth year, Ferret Buckeye Bash is the largest ferret show of its kind. Exhibitors will be coming from Ohio, surrounding states and as far as Washington State, Florida and New Jersey. "We again have taken on an international flavor with three of our twelve judges flying in from Nagoya, Japan," said Ms. Gray-Saling. The Ferret Buckeye Bash is a premier championship ferret show where ferrets are judged similar to cats and dogs. Along with the championship judging, there will be more than 40 vendors specializing in ferret related items of which many are not found in pet stores. In addition, there will be numerous ferret rescues and breeders there to help educate ferret owners and offer ferrets for adoption.

Guest speakers for the Buckeye Bash include the ever popular Bob Church, well known ferret expert from Missouri who will be speaking on nutrition, enrichment and dental concerns, Valerie Staton, PhD, from Ohio Dominican University who will be expounding on ferret behavior, and, Kim Schilling, author of Ferrets for Dummies.

More than 350 ferrets are expected, including some very unique colors and patterns seldom seen by the general public. In addition to the championship judging, highlights for the day include fun events such as best-dressed ferrets, ferrets racing through tubes, a paper bag escape, best kisser, an awesome raffle and more!

The show is presented by Heart of Ohio Ferret Association and Rescue, Inc. a 501(c)(3) non-profit shelter. All proceeds from this event provide for the continued educational support, operations and care and placement of homeless ferrets in the Central Ohio area. The show is sponsored by: TheFerretStore.com with contributing sponsors: FerretDepot.com and Ferret.com. More information can be found at www.HOFA-Rescue.org.
